Job description:

  1. Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance at the Asha centre.
  2. Complete basic plumbing, joinery, tiling and minor electrical work (within competency levels).
  3. Repair fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, windows and furniture.
  4. Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  5. Repairing or replacing broken furniture.
  6. Respond promptly to urgent repair requests.
  7. Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health and Safety regulations.
  8. Maintain safe working practices at all times.

Person specification:

  1. Proven experience in general property maintenance.
  2. Experience in painting and decorating.
  3. Basic multi-trade skills (plumbing, joinery, general repairs).
  4. Understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  5. Full UK driving licence.
  6. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  7. Professional, reliable and trustworthy.

Are you passionate about health equity and empowering migrant communities? Asha North Staffordshire is seeking a culturally competent and committed Migrant Health Improvement Worker to lead sexual health promotion efforts among migrants in North Staffordshire. This role focuses on HIV prevention and care, as well as broader sexual health awareness and access.

You’ll collaborate with local partners—including NHS sexual health teams—to ensure asylum seekers and refugees receive timely, dignified, and informed support.

Role Purpose:
To lead and deliver culturally sensitive HIV prevention, testing, and care initiatives for migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees in North Staffordshire. The post holder will coordinate awareness campaigns, facilitate access to testing and treatment, and embed HIV education into community-based activities with a strong focus on dignity, confidentiality, and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver outreach and promotional sessions in migrant communities
  • Facilitate culturally sensitive education sessions at the Asha Centre
  • Coordinate events for World AIDS Day and National HIV Testing Week
  • Develop and maintain referral pathways to local sexual health services
  • Build trust with individuals facing healthcare barriers
  • Advocate for inclusive, trauma-informed sexual health approaches

  • Has experience in community health promotion or public health
  • Understands the challenges migrants face in accessing healthcare
  • Is confident delivering group sessions and engaging diverse audiences
  • Can work collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector partners
  • Is committed to equality, dignity, and culturally responsive practice

Essential skills required for this role:

  • A degree or 3 years work experience in field
  • Experience in HIV prevention, sexual health, or public health
  • Understanding of migrant health inequalities and cultural barriers
  • Ability to deliver outreach and community-based education
  • Experience organising public health campaigns or events
  • Knowledge of HIV testing protocols and referral pathways
  • Strong communication and partnership-building skills
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and confidentiality protocols
  • Experience working with vulnerable or marginalised groups and charity values

Desirable skills for this role:

  • Lived experience of migration or displacement
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g Arabic, Farsi, Polish etc.)

Are you passionate about supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of asylum seekers and refugees?

Asha North Staffordshire is seeking a skilled and culturally competent Psychological & Emotional Wellbeing Worker to provide trauma-informed support to individuals and families affected by displacement.

This role includes direct therapeutic work, group facilitation, and collaboration with community and statutory partners.

Role Purpose:

To deliver culturally sensitive, trauma-informed psychological and emotional support to asylum seekers and refugees—including children and young people—through one-to-one and group interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Support & Therapeutic Interventions

  • Provide one-to-one counselling and emotional support using trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches
  • Facilitate group wellbeing sessions, psychoeducation workshops, and creative therapeutic activities
  • Conduct initial assessments and develop tailored support plans

Child & Youth-Focused Support

  • Offer age-appropriate emotional support to children and young people affected by trauma, displacement, and family separation
  • Collaborate with the Galaxy Club and youth initiatives to embed psychosocial care
  • Liaise with schools, CAMHS, and safeguarding teams to ensure continuity of care

Multi-Agency Collaboration

  • Work alongside Asha NS staff, volunteers, and external professionals
  • Participate in case reviews, safeguarding meetings, and referral pathways
  • Advocate for service users’ mental health needs within statutory and voluntary systems

Essential skills required for this role:

  • Recognised counselling or psychotherapy qualification
  • Registration with BACP, UKCP, HCPC
  • Experience supporting asylum seekers, refugees, or displaced people
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally sensitive practice
  • Ability to deliver group and individual interventions
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection

Desirable skills for this role:

  • Lived experience of migration or forced displacement
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g. Arabic, Tigrinya, Kurdish)
  • Experience working in community or voluntary sector settings
