Distributing food

The statistics you see on this page highlight the importance of the work carried out by Asha.

Kind-hearted people in the community donate food through the FareShare charity network. Food items include basmati rice, sunflower cooking oil, long life (UHT) milk, tinned tuna, tinned tomatoes, coffee, tea, biscuits, jam, honey, sugar, chickpeas and other pulses, cereals, flour, salt and pepper.

We made over 750 collections between 2024 and 2025. This equates to more than 32,000kg of food and over 77,000 meals. All of which go to the most vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in our community.

These generous donations supply essential supplies for those who cannot provide enough for themselves.

Moreover, they offer a chance for isolated individuals to socialise – during collection and distribution.

This gives people an important opportunity to contribute to our vibrant community.

While destitution remains a pressing concern, many factors influencing its improvement lie outside our immediate influence. We remain committed to doing what we can within our scope.

Much needed help

Asha is committed to helping asylum seekers and refugees live with dignity and security. We encourage our service users to become volunteers and co-workers – so they can not only provide much needed help but also contribute to the success of our organisation.

As you can see from Fig. 1, there is improvement in almost every area of need from when people first come to us to where they find themselves shortly after.

Our supporting funders & partners

Asha is core funded by the National Lottery Reaching Communities programme – and many other fantastic organisations also support the work we do…
