Asha celebrates International Women’s Day
Members of Asha came together to celebrate International Women’s Day with a special community event held at the Royal Voluntary Service in Hanley.
The celebration brought together 77 adults and 58 children. These included many asylum seeker women who regularly attend Asha activities, alongside members of the local community.
It was a welcoming and uplifting day that highlighted the importance of empowerment, advocacy, and community.
Asha continues to create spaces where asylum seeker women feel valued, supported and included. Events like this provide an opportunity to celebrate their strength while also recognising the ongoing struggle for equality and diversity.
A highlight of the day was a lively performance from the talented dancers of Desi Nach, who helped create a joyful atmosphere and made the occasion truly memorable for everyone who attended.
By bringing women and families together through shared experiences and celebration, the event reflected the true spirit of International Women’s Day. It also reinforced Asha’s commitment to building a strong, supportive community.
